Travel Report: Account of a Week Yoga in Green Marrakech

NOSADE Yoga in Green Marrakech
An account of a week filled with yoga, gardens,
and Moroccan fairy tales

Day 1
Arriving in Marrakesh

The participants arrive during the day. In the evening the first event on the schedule: we meet for a welcome dinner on top of our Riad in our very own wonderful roof garden. NOSADE’s team welcomes us and we enjoy a healthy 3-course meal that has been prepared with love (and skill!), getting us in a Moroccan mood for the coming week.

Day 2
Discovering the Medina

Early in the morning we start with a sunrise yoga session on the roof, led by Sabine Klein. Following a healthy breakfast, we embark on a guided tour of the turmoil that is the city’s Medina. After an evening yoga session and a tasty Moroccan dinner we stumble to our beds, still trying to process the day’s impressions.

Day 3
La Ferme Berbère, Route d’Ourika

Yoga and breakfast in the spring sun on the roof mark the start of the next stage of our trip: we are leaving the city for two days. Onboard a private minibus we head to La Ferme Berbere, a wonderful tranquil oasis with a pool and rooms surrounded by green meadows. Embedded in this old olive tree farm we spend the day at the pool or in the spa and finally meet for a yoga session on the Ferme’s roof, providing us with an astonishing view of the Atlas mountains. After dinner we sit together enjoying a bottle of wine looking back on this relaxing day.

Day 4
Le Paradis du Safran

Just as in Marrakesh the day at Ferme starts with a yoga session. As the night’s cold is still in the air, we gather in a charming little room with a fireplace, plenty of books and artworks. After breakfast we head to Paradis du Safran, where owner Christine Ferrari welcomes us cordially. Following a thorough introduction into the world of saffron we have time to explore the large compound with its wonderful plant life. Before our afternoon yoga session led by Sabine in an enchanting pavilion covered in vines, we enjoy a saffron based meal for lunch. Come evening we say our farewells after two days of pure nature and return satisfied, inspired  and deeply relaxed to the tranquility of our Riad at the heart of the bustling Medina.

Day 5
Jardin Majorelle & Souks

We begin the day with a bike ride – taking a short yoga break! On bikes rented from PIKALA we cycle to the famous Jardin Majorelle, where, after exploring Yves Saint Laurent’s famous garden, we have the opportunity to check out exquisite Moroccan art and design at the Concept Store Rue 33 Majorelle. In the afternoon we are free to explore Marrakesh or the Medina on our own, before we meet back at the Riad around sunset to finish the day with yoga on the warm roof and a traditional Moroccan meal.

Day 6
Marrakesh Cooking Class

Today we’re doing the cooking ourselves! Right after breakfast the group heads to one of the many vegetable markets of the Medina to purchase the ingredients for the meal we’re going to prepare for the evening under the experienced supervision of our Riad’s female chefs. In the afternoon there is time for individual exploration: find gifts for your loved ones in the Souks, relax in a Hammam, or just enjoy the sun in the quiet roof garden. In the evening another yoga session at sunset awaits before we enjoy the meal we prepared ourselves.

Day 7
Yoga at Le Jardin Secret

Definitely a highlight: A yoga session at dawn in wonderful Jardin Secret. This early the garden is open to us exclusively and from the patio we have a stunning view of the wonderful garden with its sea of green. The sweeping view over the roofs of Marrakesh as far as Koutoubia Mosque rounds off the experience – a perfect finale to a great retreat! Afterwards we are served a delicious breakfast with homemade pastries and yogurt, fresh fruit, and the best coffee in the garden, before we are given a short tour of the facilities. In the afternoon we enjoy a bit of downtime before our farewell dinner on our Riad’s roof.

Day 8

Time to say goodbye! Happy, relaxed, and with plenty of beautiful impressions to contemplate we leave Marrakesh.
One thing is certain: We’ll be back!
