The price is €525 per person (based on 2 participants) and includes:
- Welcome dinner & accommodation in a double room, incl. breakfast at our NOSADE Riad in Marrakesh
- Private transport with an English speaking driver to Merzouga, incl. individual stops along the way
- 1 overnight stay at our NOSADE apartment in Merzouga overlooking the golden sand dunes with authentic provisions incl. dinner & breakfast
- Desert tour with camel trekking and 1 overnight stay in a traditionally constructed Berber tent at a desert camp, incl. dinner and breakfast
From Marrakesh…
Following a traditional Moroccan welcome dinner with homemade traditional food in our NOSADE Riad in Marrakesh’s Medina, you spend the night in the cool calmness of our house.
The early bird catches the worm! You start your second day with an early breakfast before leaving Marrakesh for the desert at dawn. Passing the High Atlas and enjoying spectacular landscapes, the 10-hour drive the Merzouga in a 4×4 vehicle flies by.
…into the Sahara Desert
In Merzouga, one of the gates to the Sahara sand desert, our family greets you at the NOSADE apartment overlooking the dunes. Before sitting down for a tasty homemade dinner you have the opportunity for a stroll amidst the dunes that will give you an impression of the fabulous serenity that awaits.
Following a cozy breakfast, exploration of the oasis’ palm grove, and a visit to the village of Merzouga you mount your “ship of the desert”, as the dromedaries are affectionately called, in the afternoon to head for the desert camp. During the two-hour ride you can enjoy the looming sunset over golden sand dunes.
At the camp you are greeted with a cup of tea, explore your surroundings, and climb one of the big dunes, until you are spoiled with a traditional Berber dinner. A campfire and solid North African drumbeats are accompanied by a starlit sky that few places on earth can rival. The sound of absolute silence accompanies you as you finally go to bed in your traditional Berber tent.
With sunrise it’s time to return to the apartment, where a shower and breakfast overlooking the dunes of Erg Chebbi await, before you return to Marrakesh on a different route. Short stops on the way, e.g. at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, are always an option.
At this point there is also the opportunity to spend another night on the road to Marrakesh, for example in the beautiful Drâa Valley lined by palm trees or in the famous oasis town of Boumalne Dades.
